Scavenger Hunt

YDA's Scavenger Hunt last Friday saw eleven teams following clues and completing challenges around Rainbow Street, collecting points while getting to know Amman a little better. There was of course the chance to swap stories and meet other members at a happy hour afterwards! Only those who took part will really understand what some of these photos mean...

'Boots and Beers' was a huge success, with a group of us heading from Iraq al-Amir up to Fuheis. With stunning views down to the Dead Sea and over green hills, spring flowers, and rural communities, we covered the 13km in four hours. The beers and sunset felt very well deserved...

Boots & beers

We're pretty excited about our first excursion, next Saturday 19th March. We'll be having lunch at a nearby Women's Cooperative and then walking up to Jordan's first microbrewery. Members have received the details by email.

Thanks to everyone who made it to the launch party last Wednesday - it was a good night. The turn-out definitely beat our expectations. Lots of people have suggested making this a monthly drinks, with other activities in between. What do you think?

A few people asked about the name of the group. The initial idea was indeed to gather together diplomats and government development types. Given the response YDA has had across Amman, from those working in development more broadly, or in private business, or studying Arabic, we quickly decided that ours should be a wider social group. We'll stick with the name, but our events will not be stuffy!
